Welcome to 'My way, Elaborated!'

Empty-Handed

Just in front of me is a guy with a pack of green peas in hand. I felt lucky to have only one item in front of me to scan then my turn to finish the grocery.

Then suddenly pity and sadness hit me when he had to leave unfinished  because he doesn’t have enough dough to pay what I think is supposedly his meal for a week.

Waiting for the cashier to cancel his item, I just left the counter empty-handed.
